Accessibility
We want this site to work for everyone, including people using a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, or a phone in bright sunlight. This page says what we have done and how to tell us when we have got it wrong.
The standard we aim for
WCAG 2.2 Level AA. We believe the site currently meets it, though we have not had an independent audit.
What that means in practice
- Every text colour is measured against its background, not judged by eye. We run an automated check whenever a colour changes.
- Everything works with a keyboard alone, and there is always a visible outline showing where you are.
- A “skip to content” link lets you jump past the navigation.
- No content is hidden behind hover only — anything that expands can also be opened with a keyboard or a tap.
- Images have text alternatives. Decorative images are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Animation is switched off automatically if your device asks for reduced motion. Nothing flashes and nothing plays sound.
- The site works from a 320 pixel-wide phone up to a large desktop, without sideways scrolling.
- Form fields have proper labels, and errors are explained in words rather than only in colour.
Known limitations
- The home page places text over photographs. We have measured the contrast against every background image used, but a photograph is inherently more variable than a flat colour.
- Some sections show “coming soon” placeholders where real content is not ready. These are labelled as such rather than filled with stand-in material.
- We have not yet tested with a screen reader on a physical device.
